11 Weeks Post-Injury (and Still Not Running)

Taking deep breaths and trying to be okay with missing another Sunday runday.

It’s been 11 WEEKS since I sprained my ankle. It was a minor sprain: some swelling and reduced mobility, but no break and no major tears. I figured I’d rest up and be back on my feet in no time. I would be a-okay for the May races I had planned. Minor setback, but no big deal.

Wrong.

The sprain was minor, but it uncovered all of those lingering instability issues I have. That I’ve always had, but was able to train through. As my husband put it, if you take 10 000 000 steps a year, odds are that eventually one of them is going to put you over the edge.

It’s okay, though. It’s fine. I will get past this. And I know I will because I’ve done it before. Last time I worked through an injury I finished my second ever marathon with a 35 minute PR. What next?
