Just Eat The Donut
JUST EAT THE DONUT. 🍩
I have spent a lot of my life in turmoil over the donut. Wanting the donut, thinking about the donut, avoiding the donut. Sometimes eating the donut and feeling guilty about it. Sometimes not eating the donut and deep down feeling deprived.
Over. A. Donut.
The mental strife over food can be so real, especially as we near the holiday season. I wanted to take a moment to throw this message into the universe for anyone who needs it.
The donut will not destroy you. You do not need to "earn" the donut. You do not need to punish your body with a million situps or five hours of cardio. Exercise to celebrate the power of your body, not to discipline it for something you perceive as a wrongdoing.
The next time you see a donut, remember that you have two options:
1. You want the donut. The act of consuming a donut brings you enjoyment. So you eat the donut, and you do NOT feel guilty about it.
2. You do not want the donut. Maybe you don't like donuts. You do not eat the donut.
It took me about 30 years to figure this out, but I've come to realize that the pleasure I get out of eating the donut outweighs any bullshit guilt I used to throw on myself. That's mental health for you.
